“If it feels awkward, it probably looks great” -Hailey
My favorite quote from today’s session. Also can we just all agree that red is totally Hailey’s color and that studio sessions are amazing.
PS- this isn’t edited yet, but seriously who needs editing anyways.
Are you celebrating Valentine’s Day or Galentines day this lovely Fab 14th!?

Thinking about those summertime, sunset senior sessions by the lake. Double tap if you’re excited!!
Melt into the arms of that special someone on this cold, snow day.

Side note, I’m still counting down to the days of warm, golden spring sessions like this 🥰! Anyone else 🙋‍♀️
Another 2018 favorite. As I picked out my favorite images from last year I scrolled through all, yes almost all of my 2018 client work images and then slowed down to click through the ones that caught my attention.

It was really fun to see what really drew me to an image. These were some patterns I noticed:
1. Light - great lighting was hands down the make or break quality for me.
2. Expression - when my subjects had expressions that perfectly matched their body language, outfits, location, etc. it really made all the difference.
3. Colors - colors that go with each other make all the difference. It’s about coordination not matching.
4. Composition - you know stuff like rule of thirds, it actually can make a big difference.

What draws you into certain images?
A few quick tid bits about this morning.
1. Brittney is probably the cutest pregnant person I’ve ever encountered
2. Christina is crazy talented at food
3. I forced all the guest to take a picture with Brittney...because photo wall 😍
4. Ellie (my daughter) loves elephants and I’m pretty sure thought she was going to get to keep the elephant Brittney got as a shower gift
5. Lastly but most importantly Brittney is very loved and a super sweet person. I am crazy honored to have her as a friend and that we were able to have this at our place this morning. Thanks to those that made it this morning. (Oh and I bought a hot glue gun, crafted and decorated, like what 😱, but it was so fun, would highly recommend!!)
Why is it that watching the waves on the beach is so relaxing? Watching fire I think has a similar type feel.

Nature is amazing, don’t forget to slow down and just watch. I feel like a naturally ‘go, go, go’ kind of person but it’s amazing how refreshing it can be to just slow down for even 20 minutes. Burnout is real friends, do not forget to prioritize your mental health on the daily. And I don’t mean an afternoon Instagram scroll.
Just in case you didn’t know, it’s a rough life being married to a photographer 🙈. I made Luke take a bunch of selfies with me because I wanted us to remember how much fun we had and then print these selfies along-side all those iPhone photos of the gorgeous scenery and adventures we went on in a Chatbooks of course.

I know I’ve said it a million times but I believe in PRINTED photographs. I know printing can be expensive and complicated and those products can be and are amazing but don’t forget, you can start small with the inexpensive and easy. Because something is better than nothing, just like the best camera is the one you have with you. There are many easy apps to print cell phone pictures like @parabopress and @chatbooks (I have discount codes for both of those in my bio link) or others like FreePrints (tried it, nothing awesome but hey it’s free, just pay for shipping so 🤷‍♀️) and I’m sure many more.

Maybe I’m rambling and crazy 🙈. But if I have ever inspired you to print photos, let me know. You will totally make my day!
Take me back 😍. Just one of way too many iPhone pictures I took last week.

You might be surprised but I rarely travel with an actual camera anymore, usually just my phone. Any other phone camera only travelers out there? Or do you just love the DSLR quality and can’t leave it behind!?
