Another Wednesday night, another awesome horse practice. This Wednesday was showmanship, showmanship is one of those universal, great for everyone to know and understand classes. It is all about having great communication and respect while working with your horse on the ground. Having a good relationship and level of respect while doing groundwork is very important and typically improves your riding experience as well.
The point of Showmanship is to "show off" your horse. You want to have them beautifully groomed, make sure you covered all the details and keep a big smile on your face while performing a pattern and inspection showing off your horse to the best of your ability. This means having them set up their feet so their body looks great and keeping them alert and moving nicely while walking, trotting and other elements of the pattern. You might take a glance at this class and think, oh that is so easy. Well take another glance, it is a great challenge to master!
Here are a few pictures from our Wednesday night and for the 4-H families, you can see more from our Wednesday night practices here: http://proofing.amberlangerud.com/.
