Sure winter is cold and snowy and sometimes leads to bad roads, but winter is also a GREAT time for outdoor photoshoots. Why you might ask. Well although it is cold, winter is great for photoshoots because it is so different than any other time of year, we have a nice array of browns and some greens in the pine trees, many times beautiful overcast skies and snow. Of course snow! Snow adds a beautiful element to images, it bounces light back up into your faces so you look bright, alert and well lit.
So I have to give a quick shout out to these two. Dani and Alex were a blast! It was a bit chilly out and they were brave enough to go sans coats to get extra unique winter pics! And as another plus, they were total naturals in front of the camera. At the beginning of the shoot Dani admitted to me that although she likes the snow, she would much rather enjoy it through the window from the indoors. I have to say that on most days I am totally with Dani here. On chilly winter days like this one, I break up the shoot into smaller portions where we warm up in between "mini" sessions.
These two were naturals in front of the camera and I loved watching them interact in photos like this!
I love capturing little details during my sessions. There is something extra special about a couple holding hands.
This old barn on our farm has been around for quite a while and now although it does not serve a practical purpose, you will see it in my photographs often.
And of course a blanket seemed quite fitting for ourdoor winter photographs!
I try to always remember to grab a quick headshot of both the bride and groom to be during the engagement session.
And then of course no winter engagement session could be complete without some "snowy" ring pictures right!
